Kochadaiyaan: A monumental effort

When Mallory was asked as to why he would like to climb Everest, he said, because it was there.

Well, the same cannot be said for Kochadaiyaan, because Motion Capture/Performance Capture has been already been done.

However, it had to be done in India sometime or the other and it has been now done and delivered.

They say that the Euclid’s axiom of a straight line, is that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line only if the two points are in the same plane.

Therefore comparing with Hollywood efforts like Avtaar can be removed from the equation since both the budgets that are available to Hollywood films and the markets that are at their disposal are beyond compare. To put in perspective, the budgets and markets available in India are constraints and serious dampeners.

I  neither have the capability nor the competence to comment on the technical aspects, however, I just swayed, along with the dexterous camera movements which seemed to dance magically in all the eight directions, sending your heart into little flutters of joy.

Alluring Images of fictional kingdoms in the distant past, in the backdrop of magnificent mountains and the many hues of the ocean, transport you to a wondrous trip.

Rahman, does his bit. And of course, the editor, will always remain the unsung hero of technologically centric film. I reckon it must have been a nightmare for the editor.

For an early convert to being a Rajini fan, in late 1970 before he was recognized as a super star, after Billa, I have always been disappointed that Rajini has been sub optimally used by the industry. As my father would say, Rajini did not have to do anything, his mere presence would send me(us) into raptures. Despite being a serious cinema viewer, the goose bumps of mine are strictly reserved for Rajini and Rajini only.

Rajini, as all of us know is primarily risk averse. I do not think Rajini has done anything differently or taken any risk in his entire career.

For Rajini to have undertaken an endeavor like Kochadaiyaan, I assume that Soundarya must get credit for..

This is one giant leap for Indian Cinema, Hats off to Soundarya and team for a monumental effort.
