Irandam Ulagaporin Kadisi Gundu (IUKG), The Last Bomb of the Second World War

Cleansing the Sins of Kaala and Kabali

After the brilliant Pariyerum Perumal, comes the thought provoking IUKG.

While Pa Ranjith themes are consistent and resonant with his past films, I love Pa Ranjith, the patron of arts.

Two things stood out for me.

I have great pleasure in sharing the Lyric video of 'Iruchi'. Exhilarating. Listen to the 'Udukkai'. The foot tapped unconsciously. When we have patrons and artists like Ranjith, I am sure, the art form of 'Therukoothu' will indeed survive.

I think about the way, the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was shown, not very sure if it was an animation or a sequence of stills, the creative process was heartwarming. I guess old clips of the bombings may have not had the necessary impact on a tragic retelling of the event.

In some ways the movie could remind you of Babel at a concept level but it is an interesting and important film coming from the heart. I am sure there are bound to be conversations on the impact  of war, empathy, communism, casteism and Arts.

In easily digestible commercial template, I guess the movie has the propensity to reach a broad cross section of people.
